Chemical testing
For biostimulants and fertilisers
Why do you need to do chemical testing ?
Chemical testing, and by that we mean the determination of physico-chemical and chemical properties, inluding nutrient and contaminants contents, is necessary for several reasons.
The first reason is product type determination. Most national legislations provide lists of types of fertiliser products, which are characterised by chemical properties. Without the knowledge about all relevant paramters, this type determination can't be finalised and hence the process of bringing a product to the market can't be completed.
The second reasion is product compliance with national laws. Once the product type has been determined, most often certain thresholds of certain elements must either be exceeded or must not be exceeded. We have never come across a product where the necessary information in terms of chemical testing was complete. Hence, in most cases, a completion of the (maybe) available testing must be conducted to procede with the placing on the market.
The third reason is labelling. In some cases, depending on the results for certain parameters, there is an impact on the labelling requirements. In order to meet these specific labelling requirements, chemical testing must cover all necessary parameters.
The forth reason we are going to mention here is product quality management. In any case, when you want to place your product on any European market, laboratory test results must not be older than one year, in some countries even not older than 6 months. The parameters to be tested depend on the country.
What is to be tested?
As explained above, the parameters to be tested depend on a lot of factors and, if you are working on a national route, these will depend on the national applicable legislation and the intended product type. The determination of what is needed is what we specialised on, together with a our partner laboratory.
How does it work in practice?
It's actually very simple: Should you need product testing for a given situation (one country or more), simply get in touch with us with your specific request (product type (or presumed product type)) and what you would like to achieve (e.g. target country/market). We then get back to you and take it from there.
Due to the heavy workload on most suitable laboratories in Europe, please note that product testing can take a few weeks, from the moment the sample arrives at the laboratory. This should be taken into account when planning your placing on the market.
